Pacquiao VS Mayweather may not push through

The Pacquiao-Mayweather fight which can be considered as the fight of the year may not push through because of testing issues. Nearly every detail is being finalized now but negotiations are at an impasse over Pacquiao’s failure to agree to random Olympic-style drug testing, said Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, on Tuesday.

Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach said his fighter is willing to comply with strict drug-testing standards, but Roach won’t allow Pacquiao to have blood drawn 48 hours before the fight. Ellerbe said he would not let Mayweather enter the ring unless Pacquiao agreed to it.

“As Floyd’s management, we are insistent that there be a level playing field,” Ellerbe said. “This is in the best interests of the fighters, the fans and the sport. If you want a level playing field, the best way to do it is to have Olympic-style, random drug testing administered by the premier agency in the world, the [United States Anti-Doping Agency].”

Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum said the demand is “absolutely crazy,” done simply to harass Pacquiao, who is squeamish about needles, and is proof that Mayweather doesn’t really want the fight.

Arum said the request has been an unsettled issue since the first day of negotiations last month.

“We’re not going to agree to have Manny give blood in training, because that’s stupid,” Arum said. “Every doctor in the world will tell you that is stupid. He’ll give his blood at the beginning of the year and he’s willing to be urine-tested 24/7, but blood doesn’t show [expletive] and he’s not going to do it.”

Do you think this is just an alibi for Mayweather because he's afraid to fight Pacquiao? What if Pacquiao agrees to do the blood testing 48 hours before the fight? Well then, Mayweather will be forced to fight the Pacman. And why Manny won't do the blood testing before the fight? Could that mean he's on steroids?

Mayweather to hire old foe as sparring partner

Zab Judah, the former welterweight champion reported that talks are underway to possibly have him as Mayweather’s sparring partner for his much-anticipated showdown with the Pacman. “We’re already talking about it and it could be happening," the southpaw Judah said in an interview with FightHype.com. on Saturday.

If you can still remember the fight between Mayweather and Judah, happened on April 8, 2006 at the Thoms and Mack Center in Las Vegas, the former walked away with a win by a unanimous decision. But that fight was more remembered for a ruckus involving their cornermen inside the ring, spurred by a low blow landed by Judah in the 10th round. Judah was fined $250,000 and had his boxing license revoked for one year by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Judah predicts that Mayweather can grab the win against Pacquiao, stating his experience against Mayweather. “If Floyd fights the fight that he’s supposed to fight, then yeah, it could be an easy night for him," said Judah, expressing marvel with Mayweather’s excellent defensive skills. “(Mayweather) is hard to hit…I don’t think Pacquiao is going to be able to run in there and throw those kinds of shots that he was hitting (Miguel) Cotto with, with (Oscar) De La Hoya with, (Ricky) Hatton with. He’s not going to hit Floyd with those kinds of shot," he added.

The Las Vegas-based fighter, who actually suffered an 11th round TKO loss to Cotto in their 2007 duel, also questioned how Pacquiao’s chin could take Mayweather’s precision punches. “Floyd’s not a hard puncher but Floyd’s gonna connect. He’s sharp and he’s going to be right there. He’s going to connect on him (Pacquiao) so we’re gonna find out if Pacquiao is really the truth," he said.

Team Pacquiao declined to fight at Staples Center

The Pacquiao-Mayweather fight apparently will not happen in Dallas after Mayweather's representative canceled a scheduled visit for a site survey at Cowboys Stadium. Staples Center offered $20M to host the fight, but team Pacquiao has declined the offer. Pacquiao's adviser, Michael Koncz believes Mayweather himself won’t agree to fight there either.

Michael Koncz, said he and a Pacquiao accountant have estimated that the boxer would owe a California tax bill they estimate at $3.5 million to $5 million.

Koncz said without assurances that Pacquiao's tax bill would be paid with a larger total purse, "Manny doesn't want to fight in California," when the alternatives are no state taxes if the scheduled March 13 bout were fought in Nevada or Texas.

So the fight would likely to happen at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV.

Three possible venues of Pacquiao-Mayweather Fight

Freddie Roach, the coach of the 7-title holder Manny "Pacman"Pacquiao has formally announced that Pacquiao has officially signed on to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. in what could be the biggest and richest fight in boxing history.

“March 13th is the date, that's not going to change,” Roach told 8CountNews. Roach also said that the upcoming fight with Mayweather is the most difficult fight yet for team Pacquiao to overcome. “It's a difficult fight, it's the most difficult style for us to go against because he (Mayweather) is a runner and a counter-puncher. We will go to camp and we will make some changes, we will set traps for this guy. This is completely opposite of the (Miguel) Cotto fight, opposite of the (Ricky) Hatton fight, and opposite from the (Oscar) De La Hoya fight. We will come up with a new game plan, a 10-week camp, and some changes. We will work on setting traps and taking Floyd's speed away from him,” Roach explained.

Also, the boxing fight venue is yet to be announced. Many are expressing their interests to hold the boxing fight as we all know this is a mega fight of the year as the two best pound-for-pound fighters will clash to prove who is better than the other. Dallas wants the fight, MGM wants the fight, Yankee Stadium wants the fight, but wherever could that be, for sure this will break all other fight revenue records.
